In general terms, the treatments that literary criticism has given to the Astrologer’s discourse have been two. It has been either ascribed entirely o partially to a political, religious or philosophical ideology or it has been reduced to absurdity or delirium, disregarding, in both cases, the effect that it provokes on the rest of the characters (and also on the reader) based on the particular manner in which it is presented. On the following work we analyze the Astrologer’s discourse taking into account the logic by which it is governed, that is, the combination from which statements coming from different theories or ideologies are associated in it, considering, specifically, its rhetorical, thematic and persuasive reach, in terms of belief, understanding it as an original manner of relation with truth where credulity and retraction, knowledge and ignorance, naivety and perceptiveness are combined.
