Borges e Dante: demiurgos e clarividentes

Abstract

Blind, brave and demiurgeous. Dante, in the fourteenth century, and Borges, in the twentieth century, discover and develop worlds. Both want to venture beyond. Dante is in search of redemption, Borges moved by fantasy and curiosity. In this essay, we have developed the parallel histories of these blind poets within the narratives of The Divine Comedyand The Aleph. Both authors stand as the main characters of their fictions, Dante crossing the worlds in search of Beatriz, Borges facing his own hell. By observing, comparing and bringing the works and the languages of these two masters closer together, we will show what exits they found for the crossings that they set out to journey.
