Based on the assumption that the novel El penúltimo viaje by Alina Diaconú accomodates a biographical, a political and an existential level of reading, the current article suggests an approach that underlines the consistency between the structure of the novel and topic of the exile. By exploring the novel’s intertextual dimension, the current proposal suggests that Diaconú approaches in this work the topic of the exile in ways that surpass the dichotomies of binary thinking, typical of the Cold War, as the novel extracts its substance from the Heraclitean thinking.
