Abstract

The present work is part of a doctorate project that aims to show how the encounter with the East, fundamentally with Japan, causes within the barthesian intellectual project a break, a rupture that manifests itself in the interiority of his work. From this encounter the western symbolic universe with which Barthes works, to access a reservoir of features and a completely new symbolic system in relation to the western, allowing him to perform a revolutionary operation in the framework of traditional symbolic systems, would be disrupted to put that operation to work in its own production.
