Abstract: In this article, we will reconstruct part of the history of Carlos Valencia Editores (CVE), a Colombian publishing house (1975-1991). CVE was one of the most important publishers in the country thanks to its robust catalog of Social Sciences and for having functioned as a home for dissemination of Colombian authors, when they did not easily find support for the publication of their works. Based on the reconstruction and analysis of the catalog of this editorial, we will focus on the study of published literary works; within this field, we will analyze two subgenres: the short story and children's literature, as these were the most published by the publishing house. The central objective of the article is, on the one hand, to present a part of the history —until now non-existent— of the publishing house and, on the other, to show its contribution to the legitimation and circulation of two literary subgenres: the short story and children's literature.
