This paper aims to apply the postulate called lecture policière, created by French theorist Richard Saint-Gelais, in the exploration of some interpretative possibilities of two fictions written by Latin-American authors: Ricardo Piglia’s «Nombre falso» and Roberto Bolaño’s «Los detectives salvajes». Both of these narrations fall in the spectrum of «absent text mystery» or bibliomystery. Through the essay, several instances will be considered to analyze this specific act of reading, such as paratexts, crime fiction topics, narrative tension and the reader as a detective.
