Juan Carlos Uviedo’s trail appeared while researching the Taller de Investigaciones Teatrales (TiT) and the Cucaño group, two art activist experiences that took place in Buenos Aires and Rosario during the last dictatorship in Argentina. Reconstructing his tangled and almost unknown journey will invoice rehearsing some explanation in the face of the decisive silence that blocks his memory. Here I shall explore three suppositions for the thick silence that weighs upon Uviedo: the radically ephemeral and unrepeatable, character of his “sociotheatrical acts”, his status as a pariah, and the excessiveness of his acts and fabrications.
