This article deals with David Viñas’ presence in Uruguay, taking into consideration his contributions to the weekly Marcha (Montevideo). It also analizes the intellectual affinities between Viñas and Angel Rama. Scarcely studied articles by Viñas published in Marcha are examined. Among them, “Una generación traicionada” in which he revises two political interventions of his generation which derived in delusion: that of adhering to liberal antiperonism, first, and that of having trusted president Arturo Frondizi to conduct Argentina in a shift to the left. This article can be read as a deferred epilogue to Contorno.
