This article explores a patriarchal imaginary in Nueve novísimos poetas españoles (1970), an anthology that marks a milestone in the history of contemporary Spanish poetry, and plays an important role in the culture of Transition. The notion of imaginary -from Castoriadis´s social imaginaryassociated to the notion of patriarchy, proposes itself as a category able to bridge the gap between literature and society, in order to intervene into the hegemonic narrative about a historic period characterized by a binary interpretation and a tendency to deny the continuities with a traumatic national past. The commemorative edition from 2010 exposes the effect of this proposal on the present, and the relevance of investigating the construction of historical memory in the different spheres of culture.
